Statement I is correct: In the Indian parliamentary system, mechanisms such as question hour, no-confidence motions, debates, adjournment motions, and the power of committees enable the legislature to hold the executive accountable. Ministers are responsible to the Parliament, both individually and collectively. Therefore, Statement I is correct.

Statement II is correct: The Indian system has a separation of powers between legislative and executive but it is not a strict separation of powers. While there is a distinction between the legislature and the executive, they are interdependent in the parliamentary system. The executive (Prime Minister and Council of Ministers) is derived from the legislature and remains accountable to it. The legislature can dismiss the executive through a vote of no confidence. Therefore, Statement II is also correct.

Both Statement-I and Statement-II are correct, but Statement-II is not the correctfor Statement-I. Rather it is the other way round.
