Option (b) is correct: The Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, amended the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, regarding the procedure for appointing the CBI Director. As per the amendment the Director of the CBI is appointed by the Central Government based on the recommendation of a three-member committee comprising:
○ Prime Minister (Chairperson of the committee),
○ Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and
○ Chief Justice of India (CJI) or a Supreme Court Judge nominated by the CJI for this purpose.
The Union Home Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha are not a part of this committee.
