However, every two years, one-third of its members retire, and fresh elections or nominations are conducted to fill the vacancies. The retiring members are eligible for re-election or re-nomination.
Statement 3 is incorrect: Retiring members of the legislative council are eligible for re-election and re-nomination any number of times. There is no restriction preventing them from being re-elected or re-nominated.
