The prominent rulers of Awadh in the 18th century were Saadat Khan Burhan-ul-Mulk, Safdar Jung, and Shuja-ud-Daulah.
Saadat Khan Burhan-ul-Mulk: Ruled from 1722–1739; Founded Awadh as an independent state; Played a key role in imperial affairs during Nadir Shah's invasion; Held many positions, including Captain of the Imperial Bodyguard, Subadar of Agra, and Faujdar of Hindustan.
