Statement 1 is correct: India House was founded by Shyamji Krishna Verma in 1905 to provide accommodation and support to Indian students in London. It also became a center for nationalist activities, but its primary goal was to help students.

Statement 2 is not correct: India House rapidly developed into one of the most prominent centres for revolutionary Indian nationalism outside India. Revolutionaries like V.D.Savarkar, Lala Hardyal and Mdan Lal Dhingra also became members of India House. India House used to release a monthly journal The Indian Sociologist which was a noted platform for anti-colonial views and was banned in India as a seditious literature.
