Statement-I is correct : The fear of Japan's invasion, especially after Japan's rapid advances in Southeast Asia and Burma, led to concerns about the British Indian Army's capability to defend India. With Japanese forces advancing towards India's northeastern borders, many Indians lost faith in the British Army&rsquo;s ability to protect the country from the growing threat, further fueling political unrest and demands for independence.

Statement-II is not correct : The British forces achieved a decisive victory at Imphal-Kohima, one of Japan's biggest defeats. Following this, they launched an offensive to clear the remaining Japanese forces from northern Burma. By March 1945, the British had captured Meiktila and Mandalay, opening the route to Rangoon.
