Explanation
The Minimum Support Price (MSP) is a mechanism by which the Government of India ensures remunerative prices to farmers for their produce. The MSP is announced for 23 major agricultural commodities, including cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and commercial crops.
Among the crops listed groundnut, sesame, copra, and mustard all four are included in the MSP list. Groundnut and sesame are categorized under oilseeds, while copra and mustard are classified as commercial crops.
● As of now, CACP recommends MSPs of 23 commodities, which comprise 7 cereals (paddy, wheat, maize, sorghum, pearl millet, barley and ragi), 5 pulses (gram, tur, moong, urad, lentil), 7 oilseeds (groundnut, rapeseed/mustard, soyabean, sesamum, sunflower, safflower, niger seed), and 4 commercial crops (copra, sugarcane, cotton and raw jute)
