Unlike hibernation, torpor appears to be an involuntary state that an animal enters into as the conditions dictate.

Statement 2 is correct: Unlike hibernation, torpor lasts for short periods of time, sometimes just through the night or day depending upon the feeding pattern of the animal.

Statement 3 is not correct: Torpor is the body's state marked by low body temperature, slow breathing and heart rate, and low metabolic rate.
