Recently, in a significant move, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry unveiled the Trade Intelligence & Analytics (TIA) Portal in New Delhi. This development marks a new era in trade data analysis and accessibility.
The TIA Portal serves as a one-stop trade intelligence and analytics platform, integrating a multitude of global and national databases. Developed by the Department of Commerce, this innovative portal aims to streamline trade data for enhanced accessibility and analysis.
The portal acts as a centralized digital hub, bringing together diverse trade databases—both global and bilateral—into a unified system. Designed to boost trade analytics, it fosters data-driven, evidence-based policymaking through its comprehensive platform.
The Trade Complementarity Index evaluates the alignment between India’s export profile and the import needs of partner countries. The Revealed Comparative Advantage index identifies products where India holds a competitive edge, while the Trade Intensity Index assesses the strength of bilateral trade relationships relative to global flows.
This portal's advanced capabilities significantly enhance the accessibility and usability of trade data, providing a comprehensive view in a single platform. As a result, it empowers policymakers and industry stakeholders with the tools necessary for informed decision-making in the trade sector.
