What is the VAIBHAV Fellowship?
The VAIBHAV (Vaishwik Bharatiya Vaigyanik) Fellowship is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at attracting and supporting overseas Indian scientists and researchers. This program encourages collaboration with public-funded institutions in India, with the ultimate goal of enhancing collaborative research and facilitating knowledge exchange.
Eligibility Criteria for the VAIBHAV Fellowship
To qualify for the VAIBHAV Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be overseas scientists or researchers of Indian origin, which includes Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).
- Be Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who are currently engaged in work abroad.
- Hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.S., or M.Tech degree from a recognized university.
- Be actively involved in research and development within their specific area of expertise.
Benefits of the VAIBHAV Fellowship
The VAIBHAV Fellows are entitled to several benefits, which include:
- A fellowship grant of up to USD 5000 per month, available for a duration of 1 to 2 months per year, with a maximum limit of 3 years.
- Travel support that covers one round-trip international economy airfare per year.
- Accommodation and contingency support while the fellow is in India.
- Access to advanced research facilities and mentorship opportunities at leading Indian institutions.
Through the VAIBHAV Fellowship, the Government of India aims to create a robust framework for international collaboration in scientific research, ultimately contributing to the advancement of knowledge and innovation.
