Nitish Kumar is one of the most important leaders in Indian politics. As of 2025, he is the Chief Minister of Bihar and the national president of the Janata Dal (United). Early Life and Education of Nitish Kumar

Nitish Kumar was born on March 1, 1951, in Bakhtiarpur, located in Patna district of Bihar. He studied Electrical Engineering at Bihar College of Engineering, which is now known as NIT Patna. After completing his degree in 1972, he worked with the Bihar State Electricity Board for a short time before entering politics.

Entry into Politics

His political career began during the J.P. Movement between 1974 and 1977, which fought against corruption and misuse of power. During the Emergency in 1975, he was arrested under MISA. Later, he became one of the founding members of the Samata Party and continued to work for social change in Bihar.
