India is on the brink of a significant advancement in electric mobility with the upcoming launch of its first Tesla Centre on November 26, 2025, at Orchid Business Park in Gurugram. This landmark event follows Tesla's official entry into the Indian market earlier this year, marked by the introduction of the Model Y variants. The establishment of Tesla Experience Centres in Mumbai and New Delhi's Aerocity has paved the way for this pivotal development.
Tesla formally ventured into the Indian market in mid-2025, unveiling two models of its globally acclaimed Model Y. The Standard Range Model Y is priced at ₹59.89 lakh, while the Long Range Model Y is available for ₹67.89 lakh. Both variants are imported from Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, resulting in a significant 70% import duty, which makes them 30% dearer than their U.S. counterparts. Despite the higher costs, Tesla achieved retail sales of 104 units between September and October 2025, signaling a promising start in India's burgeoning luxury electric vehicle market.
The new Tesla Centre in Gurugram is anticipated to serve as a comprehensive hub, offering:
Unlike the experience centres in Mumbai and Delhi, which focus on brand exposure, the Gurugram centre is designed to manage end-to-end customer operations, setting a new standard for Tesla's presence in India.
Sharad Agarwal, the newly appointed head of Tesla’s India operations, will steer the brand's strategy. Agarwal brings a wealth of experience from leading roles at Lamborghini India, Mahindra Classic Legends, and Audi India. His expertise is expected to enhance Tesla's positioning against established European electric vehicle manufacturers. Agarwal's strategy focuses on penetrating urban markets, enhancing customer-centric retail experiences, and building a localized brand in the premium mobility sector.
The launch of the Gurugram centre aligns with the Delhi-NCR region's readiness for electric vehicles, supported by favorable policies and a growing base of high-net-worth individuals and urban innovators. This expansion is expected to establish robust EV charging networks and enhance service reliability. Further centres in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune could follow, contingent on market demand.
