PM Narendra Modi's Tribute to Spiritual Traditions and Farmer Welfare in South India

On November 19, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This tour was marked by his participation in key events that celebrated spiritual heritage and championed agricultural welfare.

Centenary Celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh

In Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi honored the Centenary Celebrations of the revered spiritual leader, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The event was graced by notable personalities including former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, alongside Union Ministers Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and G Kishan Reddy.

As a tribute to Sai Baba's enduring legacy, PM Modi unveiled a commemorative Rs 100 coin and a set of postage stamps. The coin, with a unique quaternary alloy composition, features intricate designs that reflect the teachings and life of the spiritual leader. Additionally, the stamps highlight Sai Baba's image and the institutions established by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.

Inauguration of the South India Natural Farming Summit in Tamil Nadu

The Prime Minister's visit continued to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where he inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025. This summit brought together over 50,000 participants, including farmers, scientists, and agricultural practitioners from various southern states. The event, organized by the TN Natural Farming Stakeholders Forum, aimed to promote sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices.

During the summit, PM Modi also announced the release of the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This massive direct benefit transfer injected over Rs 18,000 crore into the bank accounts of more than nine crore farmer beneficiaries across the country, reinforcing India's commitment to supporting its agricultural community.

Insights into PM-KISAN Scheme

Launched on February 24, 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme is one of the world's largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programs. It provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per annum to eligible landholding farmer families, distributed in three equal installments. This scheme plays a crucial role in enhancing the income security of India's agricultural sector.

PM Modi's visit underscores the importance of merging traditional spiritual values with modern agricultural advancements, fostering a future that respects heritage while embracing sustainability.
