The Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) concluded with noteworthy outcomes, most prominently the adoption of the Doha Political Declaration. Held under the theme "From Potential to Prosperity", this significant event took place in Qatar from March 5-9, 2023. It plays a pivotal role in shaping the agenda for the coming decade, especially in relation to the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) for 2022-2031, aimed at helping the 46 most vulnerable countries achieve the United Nations-mandated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Doha Political Declaration, adopted by global leaders, underscores a collective commitment to expedite the implementation of the DPoA. This strategic 10-year plan, initially agreed upon in New York on March 17, 2022, zeroes in on six crucial areas:
