On December 4, 2025, Union Minister Annpurna Devi from the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) inaugurated a significant initiative named ‘100-Day Intensive Awareness Campaign for a Child Marriage Free Bharat’ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This event commemorated the first anniversary of the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The campaign is structured in three distinct phases:
Frontline workers, including Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM), teachers, and NGOs, play a vital role in the community. They work to prevent child marriage through awareness, reporting, and support.
This national initiative is implemented in collaboration with several ministries, including Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), and Ministry of Education (MoE).
During the launch event, participants took a National Pledge to End Child Marriage. A special film showcasing grassroots change-makers was also screened, highlighting the importance of community involvement in this cause.
Initiated in November 2024, the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is the flagship initiative of the MoWCD aimed at eradicating child marriage in India. This awareness drive is a vital step in mobilizing public support and strengthening the enforcement of laws against child marriage.
