In November 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) released the third advance estimates of India’s horticulture production for 2024-25. On the other hand, vegetable production is estimated to grow by 4.09% (8.47 MT), reaching 215.68 MT, primarily due to increased onion and potato yields.

The production of onions is projected to increase significantly by about 27%, from 24.26 MT to 30.78 MT. Potato production is expected to grow by 1.85%, reaching 58.108 MT, while tomato output is forecasted at 19.468 MT for the year.

Medicinal Plants and Spice Production

The production of aromatic and medicinal plants has increased to 781,000 tonnes from 726,000 tonnes last year. Spice production is also estimated to rise to 12.50 MT, up from 12.484 MT, boosted by higher outputs of garlic, ginger, and turmeric.

Oilseed Production Estimates

The total oilseed output for 2024-25 is estimated to reach a record 429.89 lakh tonnes, an increase of 33.20 lakh tonnes from 396.69 lakh tonnes in 2023-24. This growth is primarily driven by groundnut and soybean production, estimated at 119.42 lakh tonnes and 152.68 lakh tonnes, respectively. Additionally, rapeseed and mustard output is projected at 126.67 lakh tonnes.
