Brand Launch and Objectives

Launch Date: Introduced on World Cotton Day, 7th October 2020.

Goals: To enhance the global image of Indian cotton, align with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative, and promote the Vocal for Local concept in cotton production.

Brand Characteristics

Symbolism: The brand and logo represent the unique qualities of Indian cotton - Whiteness, Softness, Purity, Lustre, and Indianness.

Traceability and Certification

Implementing Agency: The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) is responsible for the traceability, certification, and branding of Kasturi Cotton.

MoU: A Memorandum of Understanding between the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and TEXPROCIL establishes the framework for this initiative.

Funding: The government will contribute Rs 15 crore over three cotton seasons (2022-23 to 2024-25) for complete traceability from origin to farm level.

Technology: QR Code based Certification technology will be employed to validate Kasturi Cotton as a premium brand.
