The Energy Efficiency Hub is a global platform dedicated to fostering collaboration and promoting energy efficiency worldwide. Established in 2020, it succeeded the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC).
India aims to be a leader in sustainable development and reduce its environmental impact. Joining the Hub allows India to collaborate with other nations, share expertise, learn from international best practices, and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.
India will actively participate in the Hub's initiatives, sharing its own experiences and learning from other countries. This collaboration will help India develop and implement effective strategies to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
India has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and achieving its climate targets. Joining the Hub will support these goals by promoting energy conservation and the adoption of cleaner technologies.
As of July 2024, 16 countries have joined the Hub, including: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, European Commission, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a statutory agency under the Ministry of Power, has been designated as the implementing agency for the Hub on behalf of India.
This initiative demonstrates India’s commitment to sustainable development and its willingness to collaborate internationally to address climate change. It also positions India as a key player in the global effort to promote energy efficiency.
