The Indian Army has made a significant stride in enhancing its self-reliance by securing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for its innovative New Coat Combat with Digital Print. This state-of-the-art uniform component, aimed at elevating soldier comfort and tactical efficiency, was unveiled in January 2025. Developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, and the Army Design Bureau, this initiative reflects both technological and ergonomic advancements in military apparel.
The Army's digital camouflage design and garment structure have been officially registered with the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks in Kolkata. The legal recognition underlines the Army's commitment to design protection and innovation, aligning with the broader vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
