The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) is a major multi-purpose irrigation initiative in the state of Telangana, constructed on the Godavari River. A judicial commission led by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose was appointed to investigate the matter. The commission submitted its report; however, the government’s decision to table a discussion on it in the state legislature was opposed by members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
The Kaleshwaram Project is estimated to have cost over ₹1 lakh crore, making it one of India’s most expensive and ambitious irrigation projects.
