About Adam Chini Rice

Adam Chini Rice is a distinctive aromatic black rice known for its delightful fragrance and exceptional cooking qualities. Predominantly cultivated in the Eastern Uttar Pradesh region, including Chandauli, Varanasi, and the Vindhya region, this rice received its Geographical Indication (GI) in 2023.

Characteristics of Adam Chini Rice

• Notable for its sugar-crystal-like grains.
• Exhibits drought tolerance and disease resistance.
• Reaches a height of up to 165 cm.
• Features short-bold, scented grains with an intermediate alkali digestion value.
• Boasts a long maturity period of 155 days with a yield of 20-23 quintals per hectare.
• Renowned for its superior flavor and aroma.
• Contains intermediate amylose content, ensuring the rice remains fluffy and soft upon cooling.

Improved Features of Adam Chini Rice

The recent advancements have led to several improved features in Adam Chini Rice:

• Reduced height to 105 cm in mutant-14.
• Early maturity at 120 days for mutant-19.
• Higher yields of 30-35 quintals per hectare for mutants 14, 15, 19, and 20.

These enhancements make the rice more suitable for mass production while preserving its esteemed fragrance and quality.
