The Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India recently chaired the second annual review meeting of the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) 2.0 initiative. The meeting focused on strengthening rural development through improved science and technology interventions.
The Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) was launched in 2004 by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA). It was established as a platform to provide higher-level scientific and technological solutions to rural communities. RuTAG functions as a mechanism that addresses technology gaps at the grassroots level, develops need-based innovations, and supports capacity-building through training, demonstrations, and project-based interventions.
RuTAG 2.0 was launched in April 2023 by the Office of the PSA with a renewed focus on product commercialization and widespread dissemination of rural technologies. The initiative aims to transform innovative solutions into market-ready products, ensuring their availability, usability, and socio-economic impact across rural communities. RuTAG 2.0 emphasizes sustainable development through empowerment and technology-led rural progress.
