Recently, the Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology provided insights regarding the TIDE 2.0 Scheme during a session in the Rajya Sabha. This scheme aims to enhance technology-based entrepreneurship in India.
The "Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs 2.0 (TIDE 2.0)" Scheme was initiated in 2019. It focuses on nurturing technology-driven entrepreneurship by offering both financial and technical support to incubators. These incubators primarily assist startups in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, emphasizing emerging technologies like IoT, AI, blockchain, and robotics.
The scheme empowers 51 incubators across India, supporting nearly 2,000 tech startups over a five-year period. These selected incubators are strategically located within Institutes of Higher Learning and leading Research and Development (R&D) organizations throughout the country. They provide essential expertise, industry connections, and ecosystem partnerships to nurture startups.
Under TIDE 2.0, Centres of Excellence in Intellectual Property Rights (CoE-IP) have been established to assist startups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), academia, and inventors in the Electronics and IT sectors. These Centres offer various intellectual property-related services, create awareness, and provide training.
This scheme complements other significant government initiatives, including GENESIS, SAMRIDH, Startup India, and various sector-specific innovation programs, thereby creating a comprehensive support system for emerging entrepreneurs in India.
