Statement 1 is correct: The Central Zoo Authority is a statutory autonomous body under the administrative control of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.It was established in 1992 under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 on the recommendation of &ldquo;The Expert Group on Zoos&rdquo;. The authority consists of a chairman, ten members and a member secretary.
There are 156 numbers of recognized zoos in the country. The Marble palace zoo in Kolkata city is the oldest existing zoo in the country which was established in the year 1854. Sri Venkateswara Zoological park in Tirupati is the largest zoo in the country.

Statement 2 is correct: The primary function of the authority is granting recognition to zoos in the country. Apart from primary function it also regulates the exchange of animals of endangered category listed under schedule-I and schedule-II of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Statement 3 is not correct: While the CZA grants or withdraws recognition of zoos, it does not manage national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, that responsibility lies with the State and Central Government authorities under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
The management of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries is not within CZA&rsquo;s jurisdiction; its focus is specifically on zoos.
